Retiring Soon

I will be retiring from CU Boulder in June 2025. I admit to mixed feelings, but on the whole I’m looking forward to it. I’ll have more time to do the things I love: volunteer with my fire department, hike, garden, dance and do photography. We’ll travel a bit more too. But I won’t leave CU entirely. I still have one PhD student finishing, and sometimes have undergraduates to help him. I expect to become emeritus, and get free parking on campus, yay! But I won’t be teaching courses regularly, or regular courses. I may volunteer to teach Flow Vis, Aesthetics in Design and International Folk Dance if I miss them too much. We’ll see. I’ll give myself a year to think about that. I won’t taking on new PhD students or post-docs. I won’t be pressured to bring in money, sit on committees, or review papers or proposals. I won’t have to struggle with the CU bureaucracy or justify spending pennies. Instead, I’ll focus on the work I still want to do.
